Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley was born in London, England to Sharman and Will Knightley. From a young age the Knightley was determined on achieving a career as an actress, reportedly requesting an agent at the age of three. In her youth she began participating in school-related shows, including some plays written by her mother and one written by a former teacher.

She began making her way to the top by starting off, like most, with small roles on local television and commercials. It wasn’t until her uncanny resemblance to Natalie Portman secured her a role in the Hollywood blockbuster Star Wars: The Phantom Menace that Knightley broke into Hollywood.

Following projects would lead the way for, what is arguably, Knightley’s best-known role as Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean, which she starred in alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

She has been nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and BAFTA awards numerous times narrowly missing victories. Recently, Knightley has transitioned to Broadway and Independent films, where she is, not surprisingly, also enjoying relative success.

In addition to her work in film and theater, Knightley is also the face of many advertisement campaigns for companies, like Chanel.
